Is it just me, or has Adultwork disappeared off the map? I've not been able to reach the site in the past couple of days. With any luck it'll just pop back up again like it has before, but I've never known it to be down for this long.

This has made me realise just how addicted I am to punting. I don't do it all that often, but the thought of not having Adultwork around is a major bummer! I wish there were some decent similar sites out there - it's never good to have all your eggs in one basket.

If you follow adultworkcom on twitter you will see they have been under a DOS attack for last 2 days. They tried changing the website to http://www2.adultwork.com but the attackers soon switched to that one as well. They are supposed to be fixing it tonight with new hardware.

AW still down. I saw a girl yesterday who is mainly a web-cammer and only occasional escorts and she is losing a lot of income through this cyber attack.

Time for us all to spread our "eggs" out a bit.

Ah well, that makes sense then! Thanks for the heads-up. I must admit it never even occurred to me to follow them on Twitter - I guess I'll do that from now on.

It must be one heck of a DDOS attack to keep them under so long! Either that, or their infrastructure is pretty damn poor for a site of that size.

Not only do I follow AW on Twitter, but also escorts in my hotlist if they have an account.
That way you can still contact them -as I did the girl I saw yesterday.

Got three scheduled meetings in the next month and follow all three girls on Twitter too, so will be ok comms-wise there too.

I'd love to spread the eggs around, it's never good to have one point of failure. But I've yet to find any viable alternatives to Adultwork, aside from scouring forums and the like.

Of the sites mentioned above, one appears to have a total of 69 escorts listed in the world (and a broken search system), while the other reports 5 escorts in my local area, none of whom appear to have been active in the past couple of years.

I guess it's similar to the old Facebook dilemma - it doesn't matter how great a new site is, the punters don't come until the escorts are there, and the escorts don't bother signing up if there are no punters.

You're right - there's no comprehensive alternative to AW at the moment.
Maybe this outage might start to drive alternatives. I wouldn't have said that yesterday, but now AW has been out of action for nearly three days, with no sign of a return ATM, who knows?

Official line = It is not another attack, problem with our new anti-attack hardware :'
